The challenge in redesigning the international editions of the Wall Street Journal from a broadsheet size to a tabloid or compact size was to make sure the paper maintained its graphic integrity while providing a more navigable and accessible newspaper. Pacing the pages with a new, well constructed typographic hierarchy plus a new text face by the Hoefler Frere-Jones foundry were two key elements in its success along with newly redesigned charts and graphs created by the graphic team at the Journal.

James Reyman worked in collaboration with two other art directors on the redesign team for The Wall Street Journal, international editions; David Pybas of The Wall Street Journal and Mario Garcia of Garcia Media.
