Truecrime was the third, in a series of three novels, (The Long Firm and He Kills Coppers were the others) written by British author Jake Arnott, which spanned a 40-year history of England’s underworld. We designed the jackets for all three books, which were published by Soho Press in The United States.

The design concept for this cover was to capture, in a photo shoot, classic dead gangster poses, in black and white gangster garb, and intermingle contemporary type, in dimension, to give a feeling of past and present, time and space. The typeface used was Dax by Hans Reichel. The photo shoot took place, on the roof of the building where Reyman Studio is located, on a cold winter day.
